"The Unholy Kaiju Plague"

Films: Gamera: Guardian of the Universe (1995), Gamera 3: Revenge of Irys (1999)

Alias: Gaos, Shadow of Evil, Super Gyaos, Hyper Gyaos

Type: Man-Made

Location: Forest/Civilized Area

Height/Weight: 85 meters and 75 metric tons.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: At least one foe from the Showa days had to follow Gamera to the modern day. And what better opponent than the one that can out-maneuver and stress him out the most. And this time, it doesn't matter what time of day its attacking.

History: The Atlanteans made Gamera to help contain a plague they themselves had unleashed unto the world. That plague was the Gyaos, a race of flying beasts made to be the ultimate superweapon. Instead, these creatures threatened to overrun the planet, and only the big turtle can stop them.

Notable Kills: Nothing special

Final Fate: While the first Gyaos were killed by Gamera, a steady depletion of mana in the world (thanks, Legion) resulted in many, MANY more Gyaos coming to challenge the shelled kaiju, bringing him and the rest of humanity no shortage of grief. However, the destruction of Irys, while it did call upon a massive swarm of Gyaos, gave mankind enough faith in Gamera for him to destroy the winged menace once and for all.

Powers/Abilities: Breed like rabbits, fly at amazing speeds, and have a beam that can cut through just about anything.

Weakness: Heavy artillery and a lot of fire.

Scariness Factor: 4-If you thought Gyaos looked silly back then, prepare to be unpleasantly surprised when these guys prove you wrong. Ugly, powerful, and more than capable of outnumbering us all, these creatures are responsible for bringing Gamera to his absolute lowest he's ever been. It's a miracle he was able to pull through in the end.

Trivia: -Gyaos was brought back because the filmmakers thought that he was the Ghidorah to Gamera's Godzilla. Their first pick was Barugon, though.

-Hajime Isayama was inspired by the Gyaos' horrendous appetites and massive numbers when he was conceiving the main villains of his most noteworthy work, the Nazi propaganda-I mean-"respectable" manga "Attack on Titan".

"Wanna trade?"

Yep. Getting darker.
A rivalry reawakened.

You always gotta start small.

A real slam dunk.

And teleporting from the light comes the absolute enemy.

The Hyper Gyaos, everyone. Digging the color scheme, too.
Moneyshot, everyone.

Where's Mothra when you need her?!
Before Samara, there was this apocalypse.

"All this havoc and I still get some privacy."

Hero to all children, everyone!
